When someone in your office leaves (or gets fired), do you loot the vacated desk?

July 31, 2010

Think of all the miscellaneous goodies the vacated one left, when leaving in a hurry (or escorted out by security). I usually collect CDs, DVDs, good quality pens and sticky notes. Within days, all trace evidences of the departed is gone.

What do you look for and snatch?

Of course! It’s survival of the fittest.

And one time, I found a pornograph. I just gave it away because I had no pornography to use on it.

  2. you said ‘snatch’

  3. Usually audio equipment. My office pc has 8 speakers that I accumulated as others left. If I were to leave, that would probably be the first thing the office vultures would scavenge (after any prescription meds)..

  4. Whatever is not bolted down…!!

  5. lol, yeah i do this, they usually don’t empty their snack drawer and thats what i’m interested in as i already have all the best stationary ( i order it so get first dibs!) The last person that left had the best desk as it was the one where nobody can see your screen, i had that before she had even left! lol

  6. That’s a given, whatever they didn’t take is up for grabs, he who grabs fastest gets mostest.

  7. I am always the one who gets fired, so I leave interesting goodies in the desk for my co-workers. Such as, spilled milk shakes and 500 origami cranes.

  8. hell yah! Everytime people leave here, it’s like a feeding frenzy, you just wait for the dust to settle and it’s all gone. The only thing left is the dirt outlines from where stuff used to be!

  9. I thought everyone did this!

  10. I’m the IT guy, I usually get first dibs on the desk since I have to back up the profile, emails, and all that good stuff. I’m going through the drawers and stuff as soon as they leave.

I usually take a nice pen, Sharpies, and Post-Its.
