The petrol (gasoline ;-)) for the trip was the killer - moving companies can make economies of scale in this respect, and also make use of rail where possible, whereas private drivers can't. Not a joke, but quite frankly doing it yourself, it definitely more cost effective than outsourcing t a moving company or shipping it all. If you are not that confident in your own ability to transport the furniture (which all is perhaps a little big and bulky) but not a lot in the scheme of all the household furniture, see if you can get a friend or family member to at least help you y driving it for you.
