The men pay $9 * 3 = $27.

The clerk pockest the difference $27 – $25 = $2

There isnt a missing dollar.
If you think about it in your head, it works out to $30, but..when you write it out, it looks like thers one missing.!

Don’t add the $2 the clerk kept to $27, subtract it.. That leaves $25.00

25 + 2 (kept by clerk) + 3(dollar for each customer) = 30.

The question is worded incorrectly. The customers each paid 9 dollars, for a total of 27, but the owner only charged them $25. So why would you add the $2 the clerk kept to 27? That’s where the question tries to trick you. The owner charged $25. The customers paid $27. The clerk pocketed the extra $2.

I have heard that riddle once but it was about a hotel.

The dollar is still there, you just have to add differently… Don’t add the $2 the clerk kept to $27, subtract it.. That leaves $25.00
