Is this all just disultory scaremongering promulgated by the paranoid, or can the formaldehyde, toluene, etc. chemicals that are regularly outgassed from computer desks, for instance, actually enter the body in sufficient quantities to have neurotoxicity and cancer elevating risks?

I have an old computer desk, that I’m throwing out because it is damaged beyond use.
Could I just chop it up and burn it as firewood, or is furniture wood usually treated with chemicals that could be harmful?

I heard some people said breast milk will be contaminated due to those chemicals and solvents etc used in renovation work and also new furniture. But I really don’t want to stop breastfeeding. My baby will be around 10 months old when the renovation work commences…. What can I do…..

My body is sensitive to chemicals mostly that’s found in carpet and furniture. I’ve finally found an 100% solid wood bedroom suite from brazil that does not have any glues and poly-coatings/finishes but now I need to furnish my office.
