Question on used mint condition furniture?

November 7, 2009

I want to buy some furniture from a friend. The furniture is brand new and was rarely used but I don't know how much I should pay my friend for the furniture. I want to pay the right price but I'm having a hard time deciding what the right price is. Any suggestions?

  1. The simplest solution would be to just ask your friend what is the least amount they would take for the furniture. Or more politely, and leaving some room for your friend to bargain ‘up’ on the deal, is to ask what they think a fair price would be.

  2. If you give an accurate description of the pieces here and/or provide photos we can give you an accurate and fair price.
Is it solid wood or laminate?
Does it have chip-board or fiber-board in it?
Is it upholstered and with what material?

Without such information to go on you are left to blind haggling, like Dwight suggests.
