Need some good, sound advise about desk top computer?

July 11, 2010

I'm needing to buy a new desktop. I got 4 others including a lap top but they are all getting old and have "bugs" in them or it's slow, that I don't like.

I don't want an Apple, I want a PC. I have always dealt with Dell and built my own on-line and had good luck, so that's the way I'm going to go.

I don't do any gaming first of all. What I use the computer mostly is for internet. Some downloading, a lot of shopping on line, e-mails, and banking and personal finance stuff.

I don't really want to get a super cheap computer, but don't want to spend a lot of money either. Max 00

Can you give me advise on a system? I don't really need a monitor, printer, sound system, etc. But seems like it's as cheap to get those things with Dell than just buying a tower.

Thanks for any advise you have.

  1. my HP in range of 600 to 800$ is good for you.

  3. Well as a Dell Certified expert I would recommend a few systems to you according to Chassis form factors since you dint mention what size would you like, I have considered rest all factors that you mentioned:

    Ultra mini : Studio Hybrid
If you like something ultra small and neat and you have a space crunch or you have a thing for small gadgets then you can get one of these with moniter and warrenty should be around 800$-900$ ( this is built on laptop hardware since its very small hence uses hardware which has low latency levels )

    Slimline : Studio Slim desktop
A lil bigger in size and will be around 800-1000$ and gives you desktop hardware unlike above. Uses quad core or a core 2 duo for desktops and has all the jazz that you need for
going online, downloads, email and stuff that you want to do.

    Mini tower : Inspiron 518
If you want something elegant, sturdy, simple yet lasting kind of thing than you can go for this. Has all the things that you need in a mini tower box. Will be around 1000$

Another mini tower I recommend would be Studio desktop If you want something higher in hardware specs than the one just above as this one has option for higher end quad core CPU and graphic card if you want to work with HD movies and stuff recommended to go for a graphic card. Will be around 1100-1200 USD.

    Hope this will help you.
