Is there an easy and cheap way to get my chairs upholstered?
November 22, 2009
I just bought some old super awesome chairs but I don't like the vinyl upholstery and I was wondering if there was an easy way for me to do it myself or perhaps some sort of paint or dye that I could use, otherwise, it will be a while before I can afford to have them professionally upholstered. Thanks!
My chairs are similar to barstools but they also have a backrest. I'm afraid if I try to do it myself, I won't be able to get the fancy stitch around the edges of the vinyl.

Try taking one of those adult education classes that are held at high schools and community colleges a few nights a week. They usually have ones on chair upholstery. You pay a low tuition fee and you can bring your chairs in to cover with materials you buy. Plus you have an expert instructor to ask if there is a problem.
Try a GOOGLE search: "how to upholster a chair". You didn’t specify what kind of chairs you have. Hope this helps.
