Is $899 a fair price for a good condition used Bushmaster AR15?
November 22, 2009
I'm not sure which model it is but it's a 223 with black furniture, an M16 style A2 lower, a 20" A3 upper with a fixed front sight, bayonet lug, and a birdcage flashider. Now as I said, it looks to be in great shape but and all, but I'm an AK47 guy so I don't know jack about AR15s. Are Bushmaster a good brand? Is 899.99 a fair price for a used one? Have any of you had any bad experiences with them? Are there certain Mags that won't work with it or are all AR mags the same like the AK Mags? Lastly, do you think a DPMS Panther 7.62x39 Russian A2 upper will attach? Sorry for my run on question LoL, but thanks for any input you got!

That’s too much……. Some Bushmaster models are $895 new so why pay that price?…..
Bushmaster makes a decent rifle. I think Rock River Arms and DPMS rifles are a little better but overall the Bushmaster is decent……
The model you described in my opinion is only worth $600 — maybe $650 on a good day….
If your going to cough up $899 just buy a new one……

its an alright rifle to have but with the rotation barrel it makes it hard to sight in.. even with the heat treated alloy and the flash hider the weapon still has a tendency to go off by 2 to 3 milis. with you being an AK kinda guy.. one weapon i can suggest to you would be the Israeli Galil. it has the AK 47 style to it but it is alot more accurate. you can get the 5.56×45 or the 7.62×51. the only disadvantage is the barrel is an inch longer. my suggestion would be the 5.56×45 b/c of the weight.. it only weighs like 8.25 lbs thats 0.75 lbs lighter than the panther. it has a 300 to 500m range and can be fitted with very good scopes. mag size you have the 30 or the 50 round mag. and in fully auto.. you will have a hell of a time.. its a great rifle to have . i have one myself and its never gotten boring for me.. if you need any information on any other weapons just email me at tpetraroi@yahoo.com. oh and the price is good too.. your looking at about 5 to 6 hundred
Im a DPMS man myself but bushmaster does make a really good AR. The price on that one however sounds alot like the price of a brand new one. You can get all of those features from a Panther for $720 brand new, even with a collapsible stock and 16 inch barrel instead. Any AR type mag will work with the Bushmaster and they are great rifles but for $900 bucks you can get a better, lighter rifle from DPMS. I think the Russian upper would likely fit, but with the magazine well difference you’d be stuck with single shot only. Panther makes a pretty cool .50 cal upper that snaps right on too.
IN SHORT, NO!!!
Go buy new.
Its a fairly average price as far as AR’s go. You can mix and match any AR-15 Uppers and Lowers, and build and customize them out the wazoo. Bushmaster, DPMS, and Rock River are all good AR-15s, and you can customize them to suit your needs.
Don’t know to many things that go wrong with those brands of AR’s except you want to shoot some decent ammo out of it. My friend and I were shooting long range this weekend while turkey hunting and where shooting large rocks a mile away with his customized Rock River AR with the Long Barrel Upper and 4-12 Leupold Scope, he has a customize 7inch upper and both shoot very very well.
No, that is to high for a used AR. If it is in new condition maybe around 650 to 700
