They all absorb oil and by heating it you liquify it again. What you want to do is draw the oil out of the woodgrain. You may need to do this several times depending on how deep into the wood the oil soaked. Once you feel that you have drawn out most of the oil, wash the surface with Murphy's Oil soap and then apply Scott's Liquid Gold. The Scotts is an oil based product which will moisturize the wood, let it soak in and then wipe off the excess. It will blend in the dark remaining stain from the oil sticks and obscure it.
