Has anyone used Direct Buy Furniture?

November 3, 2009

It says it is whole sale prices but you have to make an appointment and meet with them. I just wanted to see if anyone had good experiences with them and could tell me how it works.

  1. I bought a contract with them a couple of years ago, thinking to replace all my living room & bedroom furniture. Haven’t done it yet, tho. Back then, it cost $3k to join & you have to make pymts of $95/mo for 3 yrs. The presentation I went to was sort of hi-pressure, too. And they DO have a mark-up – it’s between 7% & 17%. Add that to your contract pymts & decide if it’s still worth it. It’s really only worthwhile if you’re going to spend a LOT of money on furniture in the next few years.

One thing to keep in mind: Direct Buy does NOT provide any kind of problem resolution with anything you buy that might be damaged or defective. You’ll have to deal with the manufacturer. That’s a good argument for sticking with a retail mortar-&-bricks store – they’ll be right there with actual human beings that you can talk to in person about any issues that could happen.

Overall, if I could go back & do this over again, I would NOT have signed on with them. Just google "Direct Buy" & you’ll find out all kinds of things about them.
