Furniture Stores?
November 6, 2009
I am looking for some furniture stores in the Houston area. If you can suggest any thrift stores with quality furniture, good flea markets (not the junky cr*p markets) or other stores with good prices for furniture. used furniture stores are best, i love transforming a piece into my own....
I went to Value Village, and it wasn't the one in the Heights. The place I ended up at had no furniture whatsoever.
I already know about IKEA and am well acquainted with their selection.
I am trying to find thrift stores that have furniture or flea markets that will have furniture. I like to fix the pieces to my liking.

here you go. there is a value village in the heights, on the corner of n. shepard and 18th street. there isnt any furniture there, but if you are standing in the parking lot, look across the street and to your right. there is a very large resale shop, full of furniture there. prices are reasonable too. as for other used furn places, on lower westheimer, going towards downtown, after you pass up kirby a few blocks, there is a place called bj oldies. she always has tons of stuff in there. check those 2 out and im sure you will find all you need.
There is a great thrift store located in the Heights area. I’ve been there a couple of times, and from what I have seen, they usually get some great donations. If my memory serves me correctly, I think it is called Value Village, but I could be wrong. I highly suggest that you grab a newspaper and see if you could find a few estate and garage sales, as well. I’ve been to many estate/garage sales in Houston (particularly in the Montrose and River Oaks areas), and have scored some great pieces.
Ikea also has some great furniture. The good thing about this store is that you can buy unfinished wooden bed frames, bookshelves, etc. and paint/design them yourself. They also have very inexpensive cookware, dinnerware, bathroom items–pretty much anything you can think of! The address is as follows:
Ikea
7808 Katy Frwy–just take I-10 West, heading towards Katy.
Good luck!

Ikea off of I-10
I don’t know exactly how far you are willing to drive, but there is a new Goodwill site on Jones road and 1960. They have a lot of furniture and they just recently open. There is also another on off of 290 between mangum and dacoma. There is a Traders Village that is off of Eldridge you go 290 to Eldridge and they have a lot of shops in that center. You can also go off of Harwin and drive up and down the strip they have several stores there as well. A lot of these places have unfinished furniture so you can add your own touches.
Nikki, there are terrific thrift stores inthe Heights! Drive up and down 19th St. Yale or any place around Washington and you’ll find something for your fine taste.
